Certifications & Training

To become an aerobic or exercise specialist at Superior Athletic Club, we require one of the following certifications to ensure that our members will be provided with a safe and results-orientated workout:

I began my career as a Personal Trainer in 2002, and I hold certifications in StrongFirst, K3 Combat Movement Training, EFI Sports Medicine, TRX, and Stott Pilates, among others. It’s a true privilege to be a part of the Superior family!  Expressing myself through movement brings me immense happiness, and I’m equally thrilled to empower others to discover that same joy. Fitness isn’t just about physical well-being; it’s a preparation for handling life’s greatest challenges and can be a source of lifelong enjoyment.  I firmly believe in consistency over intensity and dedication over motivation. I’m a strong advocate for the idea that you can become whatever you aspire to be, as long as you prioritize strength first. When I’m not assisting others in their mental and physical strength journeys, I cherish moments spent with my family and loved ones who enrich my life and make it truly fulfilling.

I hold certifications in Nutrition, Strongfirst Kettlebell, Personal Training, and Youth Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).  As the Main Club Manager, I bring passion and unwavering commitment to everything I do. My journey into realizing the power of inner strength began when I worked with an exotic animal shelter, where I cared for abused tigers and lions for 6 years. While I’ve always had a profound connection to animals, this experience was truly life changing.  I’ve been part of the Superior family since 2003, where I’ve had the privilege of training members to discover their inner strength. When I’m not at the gym, you’ll find me outdoors with my boys. My husband and son are always up for new adventures, helping me stay challenged and active.

As a certified Group Power, Centergy, Group Kick, Group Groove, and Yogafit instructor and the Group Fitness Director, I am absolutely passionate about my work at Superior.  Applying the “I get it” attitude to each person I support comes naturally to me. Having lost 50 pounds through a combination of healthier eating and rigorous exercise, I discovered that helping others on their health and wellness journeys channels my passion for teaching into the world of fitness.  For the past eight years, I have dedicated my career to teaching science. Outside of work, my world is focused on my two wonderful children, Kenzie and Kelton. I cherish moments with my husband and kids, engaging in outdoor activities and immersing myself in captivating mystery novels. I look forward to coming along side of you as you discover new beginnings in your health journeys.

I’ve been part of the fitness industry since my early days as a swim teacher back in 1978, and I’ve proudly been a member of the Superior family since 1995. With a degree in Health Promotion and Performing Arts from SOU, it’s no surprise that I’ve found my calling as a fitness instructor. I also hold certifications in nutrition, personal training, and water exercise. One aspect of the fitness industry that I truly adore is the constant opportunity for education. There’s always something new to learn and share with my clients and students. My fitness philosophy revolves around the idea that to bring about changes in how we feel and look, or to achieve those fitness breakthroughs, our workouts need to evolve. They should foster a strong mind-body connection and provide an avenue for continuous learning and improvement.

I’ve been in the fitness industry since 1979, and after graduating from Southern Oregon University in 1985, I spent four years working at the Ashland Fitness Center.  I joined Superior Athletic Club in 1989. My mission has always been to bring a ray of positivity into the lives of everyone I meet, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to shine my light within the Superior family.  As an exercise specialist for the past 37 years, I’ve cultivated a deep passion for working with clients aged 50 and above, whether it’s in one-on-one sessions or in a group fitness setting. During my free time, you’ll often find me volunteering at the Southern Oregon Humane Society, sharing love with all the animals in need. When it’s vacation time, my family and I head to two of the happiest places on earth -Disneyland or Hawaii!

I am a certified Personal Trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and a National Physique Committee (NPC) physique competitor with an extensive sports background.  Last year, I was awarded the title of 2022 Superior Trainer of the Year, an honor that I am very excited to add to my list of accomplishments. Additionally, I am proud to proclaim that I’m an expert on all things Star Wars! “This is the way” I grew up on a 400-acre ranch and worked for a Fortune 500 company before taking a job with a local audiobook publisher. All of these experiences eventually led me to find my true passion – personal training. In my spare time, I enjoy playing video games with my son, watching science fiction, or savoring the great outdoors with my family.

I’ve proudly been a member of Superior Athletic Club since day one. I earned my certification as a personal trainer in 2007 and became a Fitness Nutrition Coach in 2012 through NESTA. My greatest joy is teaching and witnessing people experience the transformation that comes from feeling better and improving their appearance through diet and exercise. To me, “SAC is the happiest place on earth!”  For those of us who enjoy teaching, there’s that special “Ah-Ha” moment we get to share with our students. It’s the instant when the lesson truly sinks in. My journey into personal training began after I committed to helping a friend with an exercise and meal plan. When he followed the directions and saw tangible results, I was hooked.  Superior Athletic Club, along with my wife Bev – whom I’ve been happily married to for 49 years, keeps me both happy and healthy. I look forward to assisting you on your journey to a happy and healthier you.

I am a ‘Jill-of-all-trades’ in the fitness world, holding certifications in ACE Group Fitness, TRX, Red Cross Water Safety Instruction, and SCW Youth Fitness, among others.  I have a B.S. in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership. My athletic background includes gymnastics and figure skating. I specialize in Barre, Boot-camp, core strength, TRX, swimming, and whole-body wellness. As a personal trainer I would love to help you reach your goals both inside and outside of the gym!   I’d rather be outside than anywhere else and love spending time with my husband and three kids. In my spare time, you can find me hiking on the trails or swimming in the ocean!

Superior is more than just a gym to me; it’s my favorite place to be. My parents introduced me to Superior when I was in middle school, and it was within these walls that I discovered my true passion, thanks to the support and kindness of both members and staff.  Becoming a trainer at Superior has been the most incredible opportunity, and my eagerness to step into this gym every day, embracing every challenge and soaking up all the knowledge I can, only deepens my passion for helping others. My goal is to empower myself, my friends, and every client I meet to feel healthy and driven to achieve their goals.  Obtaining my certification in nutrition has significantly enhanced my ability to craft personalized fitness plans for my clients. I hold certifications in personal training and nutrition through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

I made the journey from Kenya to this area in February 2022, and in a short time, I’m thrilled to have become a part of the Superior family. Whether you find me at the front desk or leading a Group Fitness class, I’m always ready to assist you in reaching your fitness goals. I hold a certification as a Personal Trainer from National Academy Sports Medicine (NASM).  In 2017 I began my fitness journey at a gym in Nairobi, and it completely transformed my daily decision-making and dietary habits. Two years later, I started teaching boot camp classes and providing personal training. My motto is simple: “YES, YOU CAN DO IT!”  Superior Athletic Club has changed my life. Warrior Strength, one of our programs, reminds me of the Maasai Warrior Tribe back in Kenya – a very strong indigenous tribe. I extend a warm welcome to you to join Warrior Strength and be a part of our incredible community. I hold deep affection for you all!

I earned my certification as a personal trainer. While my specialty lies in sports training, I’m confident that anyone can thrive with me as their trainer. I am certified through ASFA, and I’m enthusiastic about helping you achieve your fitness goals. In my leisure time, I find joy in playing golf and basketball. My upbringing in actively participating in school sports, has given me a deep appreciation for the effort and hard work involved in achieving fitness goals. My journey with Superior began when I was just 18 years old, and it played a pivotal role in fueling my passion for fitness and experiencing the incredible sense of well-being it brings.

I’m Tyler, a certified personal trainer and powerlifter with a specialization in strength training and functional movements. I firmly believe that everyone should experience a sense of freedom within their own body, and my primary goal when training is to help them find fulfillment by becoming stronger and more balanced through functional movements and stabilization exercises.  What fuels my passion for the fitness industry is the profound satisfaction I feel when I can instill hope in people for their future wellness. I love presenting them with challenging goals to look forward to and ultimately conquer.  I hold a certification from NASM as a personal trainer, and in my spare time, I’m passionate about powerlifting. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoy the company of my friends and loved ones.
